In the tradition of the AquaBug, the new Hayward families of above ground pool cleaners are designed to clean the bottom of all sizes and shapes of above-ground/on-ground pools – automatically. These attractive little critters operate off the pool's existing filtration system and feature our exclusive SmartDrive® program steering so it won't miss a spot.
Pool cleaners are designed for maintenance use, not for large clean-ups like opening a pool. Pool cleaners are capable of removing debris, e.g., leaves and dirt. Algae removal is not an intended use.
PLEASE NOTE: This cleaner is not to be used on any soft sided above ground pool; cleaner operates properly only in water temperatures above 15 degrees Celcius.
Warranty Coverage: Hayward Robotic Pool Cleaners come with a 1 Year Limited Manufacturers Warranty. The manufacturer of this cleaner warrants this cleaner against defects on workmanship and materials. This warranty will be void if the equipment used to operate this cleaner is not compatible, or due to improper installation or use. Warranty does not cover the cost of labour, lost water or chemicals, or any other damages that may occur.
Love this little pool cleaner. I previously had a scuba Dave and it did a great job, Wanda Whale is the same, easy set up, works well and fun to watch.
I just love it! It does the job so well.... and so funny to watch. Worth every penny
I think the product is great providing your pump is strong enough to push this gal around.
This little guy works great. I have a 12 x 18 AG pool and it cleans every inch of it. It even goes under the ladder and comes back out again. It is more effective than when I used to vacuum it with a pole. If you feel the bottom after running the Whale for a couple of hours it is free of everything. Very happy with it.
Love this little pool cleaner so much!! It does such an amazing job and is very easy to set up/use!!
Works great, easy to use. Totally worth the money
Very impressed with the pool cleaner. It worked great and saved us a lot of time. Thanks.
Awesome product. Very cute as well.
Wally does a great job with our 15ft above ground pool,,, would definitely recommend this pool cleaner!!!!, this is our second year using it, definitely worth the price!!!!
He's perfect. Cleaned the pool perfect. No hassle and easy to set up and operate. Basically does everything for you. The kids love watching him go.
Its nice to have but it doesn't do all the work, still have to do some with the vacuum by hand
I order this cute pool cleaner and it arrived in 2 days. Very simple to hook up and in no time it was cleaning the pool perfectly. My dog was fascinated watching it circle the pool. I would definitely recommend this cleaner to anyone. Saving me a lot of reaching from the deck with pole cleaner as I have arthritis and recovering from recent hip surgery. This little guy will help me get in the pool in no time.
I have it for 4 years and still does a great job. Very good product.
This is my second summer with Wally. I have a 18' above ground round. I put Wally in, come back in 2hrs and pools is sparkling clean! I love him!
This is the second year with our 27' above ground pool. Last year, cleaning the pool with a manual cleaner was a pain, so this year I went looking for an easier way. I had looked at and compared many cleaners, ranging in price from $400 to $900. I had to order a few things from you and, while on the phone with the customer representative, I asked him what cleaner he recommended. I was floored when he told me that the cleaner they get the least complaints and have the least returns on was the $140 Wally the Whale (and his friends Lady Bug and Dave). I was apprehensive, but I took his advice, and I was glad I did. I had to buy an extra 4 pieces of hose because of the pool size, but even with that expense, I was still below $200. The cleaner works fantastic. It is light, easy to use and does a great job! I did have one issue. Wally's tail, which doubles as the handle to carry him, would not stay on. I had to do a bit of trimming in the latch assembly with a sharp knife. It still didn't stay on as good as it should so, I just put a short screw through the center of his tail and into the body of the vacuum. Now the handle (tail) is very sturdy. I would definitely buy another of these cleaners!
It's a crazy tool ! Really simple to plug in and it does the job. I love it. 2 problems I've found: 1. you have to enter the pool to plug in and 2. because it is using the filtration system a lot of bugs are accumulated on the water surface. But, I have to say, it is beating by far the manual pool cleaning. Just plug in and watch how the bottom of the pool become clean. It takes about 1-2 hours to do the job but it is a well job done. Some advice? Read the manual and be sure you: 1. clean your filter system before, 2. have made a backwash, 3. the hose is enough long (for my round 18ft I have left with one hose). Enjoy it as I did! The price is amazing, too! $172 with delivery and taxes included? No more manual pool cleaning!
Great pool cleaner. I recieved Wally within 3 days of putting in my order and it took about 10 mins to set it up. I was concerned about it getting hung up on my stairs but that is not a problem as it goes under the the stairs and comes right back out. I left it in over night and woke up to a totally clean pool in the morning.
This is a great little vac. It hooks up to your filter intake or skimmer, and vacuums straight to your filter - not a bag with holes that doesn't catch fine particles. We use ours in a 24' above ground pool made by Intex. Yes, one of those temporary pools. It would work in any above ground pool! The most important thing to have is a good filter system. The filter supplied by Intex is not very good. This vac works best with a sand filter. We have a Hayward Pro Series system with a 1.5 hp Power Flo Maxtrix pump. The combination of this filter system and vacuum has saved my summers. I spent the first year with this pool spraying out the filter and hand/pole vacuuming only to see the finer particles come back into the pool through the return. It took all the pleasure out of having a pool! Now, I hook up my vac (3 min), turn on the filter system (1 sec), and walk away - it's awsome!!! This little vacuum even handled our pool opening this year, which included a large number of leaves and a ton of very fine particles. Unlike the super expensive Pool Rover, this vacuum does not move systematically around the pool to clean in a specific period of time. It moves in ever-widening circles, then goes straight for a bit and starts circling again. It can be a little vexing to see it turn just before it gets to something that you want it to vacuum up, but if you give it time, it will get everything. We put ours in and let in run for about an hour, when we come back the pool looks great! Aqua Bug, Wally the Whale, and Diver Dave are all the same vacuum with different housings.
This cleaner is really good, cleans up almost all of the stuff in the bottom of my pool. Misses a few spots but ortherwise awesome unit.
Besides being super cute this little cleaner is easy to use & does a great job!
This little pool cleaner rocks. I have a 16 x 32 oval pool and my "professional" pool installer totally screwed up the bottom which left it with small wrinkles, and even worse, large indentations where the sand under the pool settled and the frame is raised. This makes for some pretty substantial navigation challenges for the Wally Whale, or so I thought. I was reluctant to buy this at first, thinking there is no way it could overcome the uneven bottom of my pool. Considering the price, I thought WTH, and I went for it. I was pleasantly surprised as the whale wondered into an indentation, stopped for a few seconds, turned a different direction and crawled out again. Awesome. Obviously if the whale couldn't handle this it wouldn't even pay for me to use it since I'd be out there baby-sitting it constantly. If that were the case I may as well just clean the pool manually. But, as I said, the Whale came through with flying colors. The Wally whale didn't come with enough hose to reach the end so I had to buy more hose. (It comes with about 30 feet, but you have to take into account it not only has to span the entire length of the pool, but also has to go "down" to the bottom.) That being said, it took about two hours for the whale to clean the entire area it could reach. I'll have the extra hose by the next use, but I don't expect it will take much longer. The DVD with instructions that comes with the whale explicitly states that the bottom of your pool must be flat and smooth. It's nice to get a product that actually out performs expectations. How often does that happen?
